Ami graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Comprehensive Social Studies from Bowling Green State University. She earned Master’s degrees from Baylor University and Defiance College, spending time researching her thesis at the University of Kiev in Ukraine. While at Baylor, she worked for the Institute for Oral History in capacities of research, auditing and editing. Ami also served as an adjunct professor at Defiance College for several years before moving to Northeast Ohio.

She grew up singing gospel music around the country and continues to speak on a series of topics including etiquette, interview techniques, domestic violence, balanced living and promoting The McKinley Memorial.

Ami started as director for The McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum in October of 2020 through a happy combination of circumstances.
